LOWER COLUMBIA SCHOOL GARDENS
Cultivating the values of lifelong learning, sustainability, health, and community.
Kessler's School Garden was established in June 2016; it was a milestone for LCSG as the final Longview elementary school to have a garden. Staff, students and families all pitched in time, hard work and energy to create a 4,200 square foot space for students to explore, discover and grow their own food.
Kessler's Garden is a safe place for students where they can be themselves, and learn or practice mindfulness as they interact with the many flora and fauna who call it home. This garden has a unique whimsy to it with bird houses and fairy homes throughout, inviting a variety of beings to visit and contribute to this special ecosystem.
There is also a spacious seating and teaching area encircled by fruit trees, where the LCSG team engages with students in many subjects including science, math, art, cooking, growing your own food and much more.
